Membership Types
Membership is open to qualified individuals who are actively involved in virology research, teaching, or administration.
Both Associate and Student memberships require this verification letter (click to download) be signed to verify position and status in the laboratory.
To be qualified for regular (full) membership, an individual should be at least three years past their professional degree (Ph.D., M.D., D.V.M., M.S. or equivalent experience), and be actively involved in virology research (including basic, applied, and clinical sciences), teaching, or scientific leadership / policy related to virology.
Annual Dues: $40
Associate membership is for degree holding individuals and all individuals with undergraduate degrees, that are actively involved in virology research and/or teaching as postdoctoral associates, research staff, or clinicians involved in veterinary or human health.
Annual Dues: $20
Student membership is for graduate, undergraduate, or post-baccalaureate students interested in virology while enrolled in an academic program.
Annual Dues: $5
To qualify for Lifetime Membership, you must have been a Full Member of AVN for a minimum of five (5) years. You may then upgrade to Lifetime Member by renewing your membership online at the one-time rate.
One-time fee: $500
Any member of the Society in good standing (current years dues paid) who has retired from active employment because of disability, eligibility for retirement, or age, may, upon written request to the AVN Secretary-Treasurer and approval by the Council, be classified as a member Emeritus. Members Emeriti shall pay no membership fees or other assessments and shall retain all of the rights and privileges of full dues-paying members.Â
